What are the benefits of being a Noarlunga Figure Skating Club member?
As a member of the Noarlunga Figure Skating Club, you’ll be a part of a supportive and passionate community of individuals who love figure skating, and you will also be able to benefit from the following:
Ability to compete at any of at our events at a reduced rate
Ability to compete at other club and state run events.
Opportunities to perform in end of year shows and exhibition performances at public events.
An invitation to our yearly celebration to celebrate the achievements of our skaters.
Eligibility for our annual awards, whether you’re a junior or senior skater
Financial support grants for national and international competitors (Elite Athletes only)
How do I become a member?
Its as simple as filling out our membership form and paying the required fee. More information can be found on our forms page here.
How many competitions do you run per year?
We try to run three competitions per year - Our Artistic Competition in January/February, our Autumn Trophy in April/May and our Club Championships in September/October depending on ice time availability. All our competitions are open to skaters from Aussie Skate to Senior.
Do I need to join a skating club to compete?
Yes, its is compulsory to be a member of a club to compete in any competition in South Australia.
Where and when can I practice?
The Ice ArenA in Thebarton runs figure skating practice sessions throughout the week that are open to figure skaters of all levels. Alternatively you can also practice in any public sessions providing you are not skating at an advanced level. More information can be found here.

What age can I/my child learn to skate?
Any age! If you can fit skates on your feet and stand upright, you’re good to go.
I’m ready to purchase my own skates and equipment. What basic items do I need?
Skates
Blade guards, to protect your blades when walking off the ice.
Blade soakers, to protect your blades after each use and keep them dry.
A towel to dry your skates after each use. Microfiber cloths work great!
Where can I buy skates and equipment?
There are a number of online stores throughout Australia through which you can purchase skates and figure skating equipment brand new. Facebook marketplace and buy, swap and sell sites like the one linked here, are great for second hand equipment at affordable prices.
How do I know what skates to buy?
It’s really important to talk to your coach about what skates will suit you/your skater. There is no one size fits all, and your coach can recommend a boot that will support your ability and level.
